This stunning ethnic inspired wedding attire is made of white hand cut voile lace with stones (agbada, trousers, hat) and decorated with silver lace trim, and hand painted cowrie shells. Dashiki (shirt) is made of super guinea brocade. The male lace outfit has agbada (gown), dashiki (shirt), trousers and hat. The voile lace agbada has silver lace trim and silver cowrie shells in front and back of the mans agbada. Silver cowrie shells and silver lace trim are stitched onto the white lace with embedded stones. Used for currency, cowrie shells were the most popular form of money in Africa and the Egyptians revered them as magical agents. In today’s modern society, cowrie shells have become very symbolic among African descendants and other cultural expressions in America and through-out the world.
